Real Madrid President Roman Calderon has finally decided to respond to the complaint Manchester United waged to FIFA about Real Madrids recent comments about Cristiano Ronaldo.
We havent done anything wrong and we are not going to do anything. There is no proof of interference on our part, Calderon told reporters.
All there is is what the papers say and rumours that the player seems to want to leave, he added. I think its a little hard to disagree with him on this point, but we will see what else arises from this investigation.
FIFA is set to settle Ronaldo saga June 10 2008
As far as the actual transfer, there are a couple new quotes that make it look a little less likely. This from FIFA, A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months. Any breach of this provision shall be subject to appropriate sanctions.
Even Calderon took a similar stance when he added, At the moment a move is impossible because United dont want to sell him.
It looks like this wont be over until after Euro 2008, but that doesnt seem to be cooling the controversy.
