I'd also like to add that Lucy is an excellent tour guide. She'll pretty much do whatever you want. Do you prefer to lounge around the house for a day and soak in the mountain air? Okay. Do you want to visit 17 stores and restaurants in one day and finish it off with a round or two of bowling? She's happy to oblige. She lets you sleep in (and won't judge you for it) and she makes delicious food, even using fresh eggs from her own chickens. Speaking of food, she'll also take you to tasty restaurants that she knows about. And while she'll drive you around as much as you want, she also has the right connections and she was able to get us a rental car for three days for about $3.00. Total.

Our journey continued to Los Angeles from the beautiful coast south of San Francisco. Los Angeles is an interesting city. People who had been there told us that theres really nothing much to see and that two days would be enough there. Im glad we kept our mind and stayed there for four days (which was nearly enough to just see the most famous bits of the massive metropolis. As you might know, Los Angeles is a huge city in both area and population but especially the earlier. In fact, it would be more accurate to say that its a group of several cities: Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice etc. The thing that truly makes Los Angeles different from most other metropolises is that the city doesnt really have a center. Surely, there are more urban areas in the area called and a few streets in Hollywood, but you can (or actually you have to) drive everywhere with your car. Also, even in the busiest Hollywood, when you go one block off the main street, you will face a residential area with one-family houses each with their own yard and two cars.

And thats what makes LA so interesting place to visit. Its a surreal world where the different areas differ from each other as day and night. The first two nights we stayed in Hollywood, which is the most touristic area with a lot of shops and sights. Its also the place to show up, if you wanna be somebody. Next day we visited Beverly Hills which is nothing different than what it is in the movies. It is the city with highest average income in the world and the city with more Ferraris per square km than anywhere else in the world. It also has the quickest Police at least in North America which has an average response time of 1,5 minutes to an alarm. No wonder so many rich and famous people live there. Of course we had to go and see all the famous peoples houses but naturally, all the famous people we knew had a big wall around their house so nobody could see anything :P.
