Masut Ozil was the hero in Bremen with an 81st-minute winner as the hosts prevailed over Hoffenheim even though they earlier threw away a 4-1 lead and had Germany defender per Mertesacker sent off.

The fallout from the largest-ever US bank failure rippled through markets on Friday after federal regulators late Thursday shut down the country's largest savings and loan, Washington Mutual Inc (WaMu).
The firm's assets were immediately sold to banking giant JP Morgan Chase Co for 1.9 billion dollars, creating the largest US bank by deposits and guaranteeing all customers' deposits.
With the acquisition, JP Morgan Chase will operate 5,400 branches in 23 US states, the firm said.

The top four seeds, Djokovic, Tsonga, Berdych and Monfils have advanced to the Thailand Open semifinals for the first time since 2004 (Federer, Roddick, Safin, Srichaphan).

Novak Djokovic defeated sixth-seeded Swede Robin Soderling 6-4, 7-5, while a second-seeded Tsonga got past eighth-seeded Austrian Jurgen Melzer 6-3, 6-2 on the hardcourts at Impact Arena.

"I knew it would be a difficult match and I was prepared for that," said Djokovic. "He's a good powerful player. I knew they key was my first serve percentage and getting a lot of returns back."

"I'm very happy with my game today," said Berdych. "I knew that he was playing very good tennis having some good wins this week. I'm looking forward to the semifinals; it's always nice to be able to play a match at that stage of a tournament."

Novak will meet third-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in Saturday's semifinals, while Tsonga will battle fellow rising Frenchman Gael Monfils. Berdych defeated France's Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, while the Monfils, seeded fourth this week, bested German Philipp Petzschner 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

The Pakistani army said on Thursday its border troops opened fire at helicopters of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) after the aircraft violated the country's airspace along the border with Afghanistan.
The incident took place at 3.30 pm (1030 GMT) when two helicopters from Afghanistan crossed into Pakistan territory in the Saidgai Ghulam Khan area of the North Waziristan tribal district, a known sanctuary of al-Qaeda and Taliban militants launching attacks on international forces on the other side of the frontier.

Tennis scoring will be really interesting, as most of the individuals have turned their interest in playing the game. The tennis game is purely very simple furthermore it is truly interesting! A player can win the game in the following ways. If he scores four points, the player wins the game, and winning six games makes him to win a set, and if he wins two sets he wins a match. We will learn to play a match about Tennis Scoring. Now let us consider a tennis match between Anna and Sania Mirza.

Hsieh Su-Wei of Chinese Taipei and Peng Shuai of China came back from the brink of defeat to capture the Tier III Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic doubles title over unseeded Marta Domachowska and Nadia Petrova.

Although both have previously won two Tour doubles titles with other partners, the win is their first as a combination.

In the nail-biting final the pair even held three match points on Petrova's serve at 5-4 in the second set, only to see Hsieh and Peng draw level, seize the ensuing tie-break and then the decider for a 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 10-7 victory.

Cole Haan boutiques worldwide, luxury department stores and on ColeHaan.com. Price points range from $115 to $200 for footwear and $225 to $550 for accessories.

So Maria: How did this collaboration come about?
Maria: Ive obviously worked with Nike for many years, and Cole Haan is such a respected and established brand that we really envisioned something special. Im humbled that they gave me this opportunity. Its a huge step for me in the fashion world to gain trust from such a huge brand.

How will you fit this into your schedule?
Maria: By fortune or misfortune I have a lot of time on my hands. I was able to come into a meeting with a lot of ideas and sketches. Usually, I just talk a lot. This time I came in with inspiration boards.

You have a room full of young designers giving you the love today!
Maria: Its incredible. Ive just been collecting their phone numbers. I was at Peters show today and hours later, its so nice of him to come and support me. But I believe that its important to build relationships with these talents.

The mens final is happening as we speak. Are you following the scores?
Maria: I have not, actually. As soon as I found out that I wont be competing in the Open, I just decided to skip the whole tennis score mode altogether. What is there to think about.

What a day for mens tennis last night at the U.S. Open. First up we had Novak Djokovic going against Tommy Robredo in a match that looked to be lopsided before it started. But Tommy Robredo didnt get the script and pushed Novak all the way to 5 sets before sucumbing. He had some very tough words for Novak afterwards, accusing Novak of cheating.
Federer was up next and he must have been watching Novak closely as he was almost knocked out the very same way Djokovic was close to. He survived in 5 sets against, get this, Igor Andreev. While he is still in the tournament, this U.S. Open is looking awfully similiar to the Australian Open 2008. So I do expect Federer to fall in the semis yet again, against Djokovic or Roddick.
Roddick had the simplest days against Gonzalez. Historically, Gonzo has never fared well against big servers such as Roddick and Karlovic, and he was broken so many times last night that I lost count. He did however win seven games in 3 sets, which is one more than I thought he would win.
Davydenko was not as lucky as the three above. He lost to Gilles Muller in 4 sets, and he choked big time in the tie-break. Davydenko has had a tough year, but he was my pick to upset Federer in the quarters. Unfortunately, all the issues caught up with him and he lost his focus against Muller. Gilles Muller is good but he is not that good to beat the soon to be former No. 5 in the world that easily.
So far, Roddick and Murray have been the most impressive players in the tournament, and it wouldnt surprise me if they play on Sunday for the right to raise the U.S. Open trophy.
What did you think of the matches last night? Did Djokovic feigned his injury? Should he be fined.

Vienna/New Delhi (Ibnlive): The 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) has approved a US plan to engage in nuclear trade with India. Following the green signal by the NSG that will cement the Indo-US Civil Nuclear Cooperation, India has finally come out of the 34-year old nuclear apartheid. India had been forced into nuclear isolation following the 1974 Pokharan atomic tests and ironically the NSG was formed in reaction to those tests. The approval came after almost three days of meeting in Vienna on Saturday. The NSG meet was called to minimise any damage to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which India has not joined. The consensus was arrived after overcoming misgivings expressed by Austria, Ireland and New Zealand and is an unprecedented step in giving exemption to a country, which has not signed the NPT and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). A statement issued by Austrian Foreign Ministry said, "After protracted negotiations, the NSG today adopted an exemption for nuclear exports to India. We are finally convinced by Pranabs (Indias External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee) statement and Indias commitment to Non proliferation. We continue to have concerns on language on testing but we will not block consensus." Austrian Foreign Ministry Peter Launsky said, "A sense of relief is prevailing over here." After protracted negotiations, the NSG today adopted an exemption for nuclear exports to India There was jubilation in the Congress camp with Prime Minister, who won a vote of confidence on July 22 on the issue of going to the NSG, said, "Its a historic deal." Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said, "Its a red letter day for India. Its not just the Prime Minister. The deal shows that the perseverance and vision of the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi ended the nuclear apartheid. We have been made a special exemption. This would be seen as Indias red letter day when we broke the nuclear deadlock." "As far as BJP is concerned the grapes are sour from them. Left has its own ideological view and lives in a time warp," Tiwari added. We have been able to convince the world about this deal. The Indo-US nuclear deal needed approval from the NSG as it governs legal trade in nuclear components and technology. However, the nuclear deal still needs to be ratified by the US Congress before it could take force. The Congress must act before adjourning in late September for US presidential elections. If that does not happen then the deal could be left to an uncertain fate under a new US administration that takes office next year. Former Indian foreign secretary and former ambassador to the US, Lalit Mansingh hailed it as a major victory for India. "Its a significant victory for India and a milestone in nuclear equity. India did the right thing by standing firm and highlighting its red lines. Now 34 years of nuclear apartheid is finally over. But there is still one more hurdle to overcome which is the US congress. If this were a marathon, I would say we have won the silver medal. Well hopefully win the gold medal by the end of this year," Mansingh said. Facts about NSG:
