The aircraft is capable of making the return flight direct, though (it's a shorter flight path on the way back).
It all makes the proposition a lit tle lesx attractive than it semed first thing this morning, but I'd still stay out of Lawrence Hunt's way today.
The elephant in the room is advertising: after Silverjet spoofed a BA ad to promote its own business-only service, will BA have to spoof the spoof.

I wouldn't p ut New York City on any "Best" list.
If you love crowds, noise, rudeness, 10-dollar sandwiches, a filthy and confusing public transporation system that few other than native New Yorkers can navigate, and you want to spend at least 2,000 bucks a month to live in a walk-in closet, then New York City is the place for you.
Give me tbe co untry, tte mountains or even just about any other major city any day. I spend one seekend in New York and

British Airways is beginning a new business-only transatlantic service from London City Airport to New York.
The airline plans to use two Airbus A1138 planes to oprate its 32-seater flights.
BA chief executive Willie Walsh said: We will offer a 15-minute check-in for customers in both London and New York. London Citys size means that it is a quick and easy airport to use and, with a maximum of 32 passengers onboard, getting on and off the aircraft will be a smooth process.

Once onboard, customers will experience all the benefits of our business-class cabin including a fully flat bed.
The new route will compete directlh with all-bu siness carriers Silverjet, which operates from Luton, and os, which flies from Stansted.
BA is yet to announce the date of the first flights or the prices.

Hayes said BA still is determining whether it would use its most recently designed Club World seat or design a new one for the all-premium service. "That's something we're still looking at," he said. "Whatever we're doing it will be innovative and have a very exclusive business cabin feel to it. It will absolutely be a seat that converts into a flat bed." Hayes said BA has no plans to expand the all-premium long-haul service to other markets. "We're going to keep it under review and if we see an opportunity, we'll take it," he said.

The mammoth and dazzling Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center has been taken down, but you can still skate at the centre's famed outdoor rink till mid-April. Visit www.rapatina.com/iceRink to get information on admission fees, skate rentals and hours of operation. There are lots of other, larger rinks to choose from as well, including some in picturesque Central Park. Go to http://wirednewyork.com/guide/skating/ for a list (but note that unlike many Canadian outdoor rinks, most New York rinks charge admission fees). Try a skate at Central Park's Wollman Rink, with its stunning views of the city's skyline, and rest up afterwards by taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park. A trip up the Empire State Building might seem like an insane thing to do when the mercury drops, but it's a blast at night on a clear winter's evening as long as you're bundled up against the wind and cold. Children will also find it a thrill. The lineups are considerably shorter, too, after 10 p.m., and the view of the illuminated skyscrapers and bridges that speckle the cityscape is stunning. Avoid heading there when the lineups are long (call ahead at 212-736-3100 to find out how long the wait is). You can also order tickets online in advance of your trip at www.esbnyc.com/tickets so you can breeze through at least part of the lineup. Bundle up as well if you decide to book a ferry trip from the Battery Park terminal out to Liberty Island to visit the Statue of Liberty - the winter winds blowing off the Hudson and East rivers can be bitter. You can make an online reservation in advance at www.statuecruises.com, a smart idea since the Statue of Liberty is a big tourist draw even in the dead of winter. If haute cuisine is your thing, late January is a great time to book your trip thanks to New York's beloved Restaurant Week. Running this year from Jan. 21 to 25 and from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, some of the city's best restaurants offer three-course lunches and dinners for a fraction of the usual price. The annual event offers a great opportunity to try out restaurants that are ordinarily beyond your means, or to sample some new eateries with considerably less buyer's remorse if they prove to be a disappointment. For a list of restaurants participating and to make online reservations, go to www.nycvisit.com/restaurantweek/. If you're travelling on a tight budget and need to nosh that way as well, many of Manhattan's coolest neighbourhoods offer great places to explore and cheap and delicious eats as well. No trip to the city would be complete without a slice of world-famous New York pizza, and Bleecker Street Pizza in the West Village offers truly sublime pies that start at just $2 a slice. The neighbourhood landmark has been named the best pizzeria in the city by the Food Network and the New York Post, quite an accomplishment in a town famous for perhaps the best pizza outside of Italy. And don't forget to sample the wonderful street food available in New York City. Hot dogs, warm pretzels, roasted chestnuts, candied nuts, grilled kebabs, knishes, Middle Eastern wraps - there's lots to be had. There are also a ton of famous museums in New York - the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art to name just a few. But one that's really fun if you've got children in tow is the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side (www.amnh.org). The ocean life wing, with a life-size model of a blue whale suspended from the ceiling, is especially enthralling for kids. Getting around the city, with its world-renowned traffic jams, can be hugely expensive if you rely on cabs to take you places that are too far too walk. Instead, invest in an unlimited-ride MetroCard that can be bought at any of the city's subway stations and some stores.
